Sacyr Foundation collaborates with NGOs to supply water in Makuyu, Kenya

The Sacyr Foundation has signed an agreement to with two NGOs in Kenya for a project to install about 5.5 km of pipes, plus the manholes and necessary connections, to supply drinking water to the villages of Kaseve and Kitune (Muranga district) with a population of 3,500 people; to the public schools of Kambiti primary; and secondary school with 420 and 460 students, respectively, and the Perci-Davis special needs children’s school with 63 students.

The Ministry of Water of Kenya will collaborate in the realization of the project together with the communities of Kitune and Kaseve that will participate digging trenches for pipelines and transporting the material.

This agreement is part of the work of the Sacyr Foundation to promote projects that support the environment, humanitarian, educational, cultural and sports, as part of its Corporate Responsibility Plan.

The Vihda Association is a non-profit organization of general interest that seeks to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged in Kenya. From their Beginnings in 2003, the Vihda Association has collaborated with the Government and society Kenyan civilian in the elimination of the infection mother child by HIV.

Collaboration also includes the expansion and improvement of Maragua’s public reference hospital, various continuing education projects, medical-surgical missions and water supply and sanitation in the region. The projects are integrated in the action plans of the Ministry of Health of Kenya, optimizing in this way local resources. All the staff that works with the Vihda Association are from Spain and do so voluntarily and altruistically, both in the part of medical training, visits and supervision of projects in Kenya as well as the management and administration of the same.

The Gota a Gota association is a Non-Governmental Development Organization (ONGD) non-profit founded in early 2010 to promote access universal basic to drinking water and the sustainable use of water resources. They seeks to provide financing and technical support to other associations and NGOs, offering advice on matters of planning, infrastructure development, water management or quality of the water supllies.
